With the expansion in tailings dam capacity, the water balance indicated that supernatant built up uncontrolled on the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF). A 60L/s cyanide destruction plant in combination with the mobile plant is required to bring TSF volumes under control. This plant consists of 60L/s hydrogen peroxide cyanide destruction reactors.
Project Timeline
Phases
Pre-feasibility Engineering
During pre-feasibility, the basic technology selection to destroy cyanide were completed. The technologies evaluation focused on Hydrogen Peroxide(H2O2) treatment, SO2/air and ozonation. The final technology selection indicated that H2O2 was the most cost effective for the site. Other constituents of concern (Sulphate, ammonia and nitrate), would be treated in the downstream 60L/s mobile RO plant.
Feasibility Engineering
Project deliverables were developed to support the client investment system. Process engineering was advanced to 80% and deliverables included P&ID’s, engineering lists, process descriptions, various philosophies.
