The Problem and Miwatek’s Solution
With more than 1800L/s treatment capacity these plants will be one of the largest mine water treatment plants in the world. The novel technology incorporates acid water treated by Ultra filtration and Reverse Osmosis followed by conventional High Density Sludge (HDS) to meet the stringent discharge requirements.
Project Timeline
Phases
Pre-feasibility and Piloting Support
2020 - 2021. Miwatek was appointed as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and was responsible for the developed the membrane section of the plant (UF and RO). We were also largely responsible for the trade-off studies to determine the selected technology by evaluating UF-RO-HDS vs HDS-UF-RO. During this stage the client started piloting with Miwatek responsible for the technical oversight of the pilot.
Pre-feasibility and Piloting Support
Miwatek again fulfilled the role of SME and assisted the EPCM contractor with developing the appropriate deliverables while continuing to support the pilot.
